Nutmeg is native to Indonesia and the reason European ships came looking in the first place. Ground fine, it is sweeter and more aromatic than the pre-ground nutmeg most kitchens keep.
How to use it: grate into bechamel or mashed potato. Add a pinch to pumpkin or apple pie. Stir into warm milk before bed.
